Why You Should Apply

Algerian public universities charge virtually zero tuition fees. The government scholarship solidifies your admission, grants you access to incredibly cheap, heavily subsidized student housing (cités universitaires), almost free meals at the campus 'resto', and a small quarterly stipend.

Application Process

You absolutely cannot apply to the universities directly. You must go through your home country's Ministry of Education, which has a bilateral quota agreement with the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Your home government selects you and handles the diplomatic transfer of your dossier.

How to Win This Scholarship

Your selection relies entirely on your high school grades and your relationship with your local education ministry. Be aware that the Algerian higher education system is notoriously bureaucratic. If you do not speak fluent French or Arabic, you will be required to spend your entire first year in an intensive language course before you are allowed to begin your actual degree.

Benefits After Completing Study

It provides a highly rigorous, classic Francophone education, particularly strong in civil engineering, medicine, and petroleum sciences.

The administrative hurdles are massive. Expect chaotic registration processes, crowded public dormitories, and stipends that arrive months late. The Algerian student visa process is also notoriously slow; do not buy your flight until you have the physical visa sticker in your passport.
