While PRONABEC's other scholarships focus on sending Peruvians abroad, the Beca Alianza del Pacífico is the reciprocal pipeline that allows international students from Chile, Colombia, and Mexico to study fully funded in Peru (and vice versa). It is a highly effective academic mobility program designed to integrate the four Pacific Alliance economies.

Why You Should Apply
If you are an undergraduate, doctoral student, or researcher in Mexico, Colombia, or Chile, this is the easiest and most heavily funded way to spend a semester or a research period in Peru. The host country (in this case, Peru via PRONABEC) covers everything. They force the host Peruvian university to waive your tuition.
They provide a generous monthly stipend (around S/ 2,275 soles per month, which is more than double the Peruvian minimum wage and extremely comfortable for a student). They also pay for your round-trip international flights and provide full health insurance. Studying at institutions like San Marcos or the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP) immerses you in the region's fastest-growing economy and unmatched culinary culture.
Application Process
You do NOT apply directly to Peru. You must apply through the 'Focal Point' in your home country (e.g., AMEXCID if you are Mexican, ICETEX if you are Colombian, AGCID if you are Chilean). You must first secure an acceptance letter from a participating Peruvian university for an academic exchange.
You then submit your dossier to your home country's agency, which pre-selects the best candidates and forwards them to PRONABEC in Peru for final approval.
How to Win This Scholarship
The Alliance has strict 'Priority Areas.' If you are studying public administration, international trade, engineering, climate change, or tourism, you have a massive advantage. If you are studying fine arts, your chances are very low. For undergraduates, you must have completed at least 50% of your degree at your home university before applying, and you must have an excellent GPA (usually top third of your class).
Ensure your motivation letter clearly links your exchange in Peru to the broader economic integration goals of the Pacific Alliance.
Benefits After Completing Study
This is an exchange program, so you return to your home university to finish your degree, but your transcript will reflect international experience at a top Latin American university, making you highly attractive to multinational corporations operating across the Pacific Alliance block.
The stipend is paid directly to a bank account in the host country, meaning you must survive the first few weeks on your own savings until the bureaucratic bank account setup is complete. You cannot hold dual citizenship with the host country (e.g., a Colombian-Peruvian dual citizen cannot use this to study in Peru). The scholarship is strictly for the duration of the exchange (usually one academic semester for undergrads) and does not cover accompanying family members.
