The Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (EMJM) is the most unique scholarship program in the world. Funded by the European Union, it is essentially a highly-funded academic road trip. You don't just study at one university; you rotate between at least two (and sometimes up to four) different universities in different European countries during your two-year master's degree.

Why You Should Apply
The financial package is spectacular. It covers all participation costs and tuition, provides full health insurance, and hands you a monthly living allowance of up to €1,400. It also provides a substantial travel allowance to cover your flights from your home country and your travel between the different European universities during your rotations.
You graduate with either a joint degree or multiple degrees from some of Europe's oldest institutions.
Application Process
You do not apply through a central EU portal. There is an official EMJM catalogue listing over 100 specific, niche master's programs (e.g., 'Master in Marine Environment' or 'Master in Big Data Management'). You must apply directly to the specific program's website.
You can apply to a maximum of three different EMJM programs per year.
How to Win This Scholarship
Because these programs are so highly specialized, generic motivation letters will fail immediately. Your academic background and career goals must align perfectly with the hyper-specific focus of the consortium. If you are applying for a master's in photonics, every line of your CV and essay must scream photonics.
Furthermore, highlight your adaptability; they want students who can survive moving to a new country with a new language and a new bureaucracy every six months.
Benefits After Completing Study
You build an unparalleled pan-European network and demonstrate extreme adaptability to employers.
Be warned: moving to a new country every semester sounds glamorous, but constantly dealing with new housing markets, visa renewals, and university administrations is exhausting. This program requires serious logistical resilience.
