Why You Should Apply
You get a completely free ride in one of the world's most progressive and expensive countries. They pay your tuition fees directly to the university, hand you 12,000 SEK every month for your living expenses, cover your health insurance, and even throw in a one-time travel grant of up to 15,000 SEK to get you to Sweden. You also gain exclusive access to the SI Network for Future Global Professionals, which is a goldmine for networking.
Application Process
You first apply for your master's program through University Admissions in Sweden. Once you pay the application fee (around 900 SEK) and get your application number, you use that to apply for the SI scholarship on their separate portal. You must use their extremely specific templates for your CV, letters of reference, and proof of work and leadership experience.
Do not alter their templates or your application goes in the trash.
How to Win This Scholarship
The secret sauce is the '3,000 hours of work experience' requirement. This is non-negotiable. You must prove every single hour through official stamps and signatures on their specific form.
Furthermore, your motivation letter must intimately align with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. If your career goals don't clearly map onto one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), you will not be selected. Leadership experience, even in volunteer organizations or student unions, must be quantified and proven.
Benefits After Completing Study
Being an SI alumni opens doors across Scandinavian corporate and public sectors, and Sweden offers generous post-study work visas to help you stay and find employment.
The competition is fierce because the number of eligible countries has been shrinking recently while the number of applicants remains astronomical. Ensure you check the current year's eligible country list before starting the grueling paperwork.
