Why You Should Apply

The quality of education, particularly in medicine, engineering, and IT, is exceptionally high for the region. The scholarship waives all your tuition fees at public universities and provides a small monthly stipend (historically around 120 TND, though subject to change). It also grants you access to very cheap state-run student dormitories.

Application Process

Similar to Morocco and Algeria, this is a state-to-state diplomatic process. You must apply through the Ministry of Higher Education in your home country. They vet the candidates and send the official list to the Tunisian authorities for placement.

How to Win This Scholarship

Fluent French is essentially mandatory for STEM degrees, as almost all technical university instruction in Tunisia is conducted in French (while humanities might be in Arabic). Your high school transcript is the sole deciding factor for your home government's nomination.

Benefits After Completing Study

A Tunisian engineering or medical degree is highly regarded in Europe, particularly in France, providing a stepping stone for further postgraduate work abroad.

The stipend is entirely insufficient to live on, especially if you want to rent a private apartment rather than live in the cramped public dorms. You must secure additional financial support from your family. Furthermore, navigating the local administration to get your 'Carte de Séjour' (residence permit) is a notoriously frustrating bureaucratic nightmare.
