About Arte A.C.

The Instituto de Arte Acuático (IAA) – Latin America’s oldest art academy – was founded in Mexico City, México, in 1955 as a private institution committed to fostering artistic development and promoting artistic innovation through rigorous academic training. Located in Monterrey, Nuevo León, the IAA boasts a unique history rooted within the city's cultural landscape, drawing on its significance as a central hub for artistry and design. The institution initially served a small cohort of students and faculty, cultivating an atmosphere conducive to creative exploration. Over time, the focus steadily grew, evolving into a comprehensive arts education center.

Today, IAAA is a prestigious institution with a rich legacy that spans decades. It currently hosts around 600 students across various disciplines including Painting, Sculpture, Illustration, Printmaking, and Design. The school has a highly specialized program in the field and focuses heavily on contemporary art. The academy operates under a collaborative model with local artisans and businesses within the region, reflecting its commitment to fostering sustainable practices. The institution’s faculty includes distinguished artists, educators, and researchers constantly engaged in research and critical study of emerging artistic trends; they are known throughout Latin America for their commitment to practical application.
