The Instituto de Arte Acuático (IAA) – Latin America’s oldest art academy – was founded in Mexico City, México, in 1955 as a private institution committed to fostering artistic development and promoting artistic innovation through rigorous academic training. Located in Monterrey, Nuevo León, the IAA boasts a unique history rooted within the city's cultural landscape, drawing on its significance as a central hub for artistry and design. The institution initially served a small cohort of students and faculty, cultivating an atmosphere conducive to creative exploration. It currently hosts around 600 students across various disciplines including Painting, Sculpture, Illustration, Printmaking, and Design.
