The MityANA Agro-Veterinary institute (MAVI), located in Namutamba Road, Mityana, Central Region, Uganda, aims to bolster agricultural productivity by providing comprehensive veterinary services and fostering sustainable agriculture practices across the region. Established as a vital regional institution, MAVi operates within an evolving ecosystem of rural development and animal health. The Institute is underpinned by a foundational commitment to strengthening the health, welfare, and profitability of livestock and associated fauna benefiting from agricultural production in the region and beyond.

MAVI's core mission revolves around delivering advanced veterinary services across a diverse range of species, including cattle, poultry, swine, goats, sheep, pigs and other commonly raised animals within Uganda’s Central Region and neighboring areas, contributing towards enhanced animal health which directly benefits human wellbeing. The institute features specialized expertise in diagnostics, treatment, preventative care, disease control programs, and advanced research focusing on endemic zoonotic diseases that affect the region's livestock population. The scope of services extends beyond immediate clinical care; MAVI actively promotes best practices in animal nutrition, biosecurity, and reproductive health to minimize disease transmission risk within farming communities.

MAVI’s strategic approach emphasizes community-based collaborations, partnering with local farmers, agricultural extension officers, and stakeholders across sectors to ensure a holistic understanding of the unique challenges faced by livestock producers. The Institute currently employs about 25 people, supported by a small but dedicated team of veterinary technicians and support staff. MAVI has consistently been recognized for its commitment to community engagement and provides training programs focused on animal health management practices that are integrated into local agricultural initiatives, contributing significantly to improved rural livelihoods and sustainable food security in the region. The institute’s institutional quality has steadily increased since 2015, with an average annual increase of 17% based on its academic performance.
